Recently I was fortunate enough to be hired on full time with my current employer as an Enterprise Application Architect. The Software Architect discipline is still in it's infancy, and as such, there are many talks like “The Role of a Software Architect” by Jeff Barnes, a south Florida Microsoft Architect Evangelist. What follows in this blogging is the start a meandering history of my own experience in this field and eventually will include some of the insight I gain in my current integration project.

With all the bs I have had to deal with the last couple years as a result of the loss of my daughter, and everything else associated with it's aftermath, and the fact that I have been wanting a fat Harley Davidson ever since I was seventeen, I finally found the perfect bike this weekend, a 2006 FXSTBI Night Train with 1600 miles & custom pipes. So I drove up to Jacksonville on Sunday afternoon, and it was love at first site, put the deposit down to hold it and I will be picking it up come Saturday afternoon.

Since learning of it's existence a couple months ago, I have been itching to skate the Suncoast Trail, and finally took the time this past Saturday to do it right. Starting around 3:30 PM, I set off South 2.54 miles to the trails Southern terminous against the mother of all head winds (it was a very windy day, and the parkway acts as a giant wind tunnel which you would never notice in your car passing me by at 70 mph!). I always like to start against the wind to get a good idea of what I will be up against on my way back. On this particular day, I was determined to break a personal record, and with GPS in hand, I proceeded to do so: 54 miles in five hours seventeen minutes, without sitting down once, although I did have to take a few detours for water.
