I have just posted a new download, IssueVision for MS Access, for all those who cannot install MSDE and/or do not have access to a SQL Server!
I work in an SOA environment, and fall into this category. I wanted a working Smart Client to work with, and IssueVision seemed like a great place to start. The first time I tried to convert the IssueVision Service, I created a new IVData object, and attempted to manually replicate the objects between the SQLClient & OleDb versions, which didn't work.
The second time, I removed the newly created IVDataAccess (Access version of IVData) and simple did a search & replace on the string 'SQL' and replaced it with 'OleDb,' then fixed all the compile errors, etc. The end result was an OleDb version of the IVData object, with Design-Time support intact!
You can download the code here: http://aciasoftware.com/Default.aspx?tabid=323

Recently, because of a need to access hardware directly from an application I wrote as a DotNetNuke module, I started delving into the realm of Smart Clients. As this pertains directly to extending a DotNetNuke module I wrote, I figured others in the community may be interested in my discoveries. As no one else has posted anything on this topic, I figured I would take a shot at it.
Why are Smart Clients relevant to DotNetNuke? Well, many DotNetNuke developers use DotNetNuke as the foundation for their corporate enterprise application portals. In my case, I have developed numerous modules to fit into such portals, and on many occasions, have needed more capabilities than a simple web client could muster, which led me into the wonderful world of Smart Clients.

Who cares about the popular media? You may be right regarding the popular media, and even more right about the water cooler, but I for one have a fiction reading list a mile long.
Some noteworthy titles I completed in the last year:
Neal Stephenson's The Diamond Age: Or, a Young Lady's Illustrated Primer Act's of the Apostles by John FX Sundman (Not Paul) Paranoia & The Company Man by Joseph Finder (awesome!) Ringworld, Ringworld Engineers, Ringworld Throne & Ringworld Children, Smoke Ring, Integral Trees, & Protector by Larry Niven The Light of Other Days by Arthur C. Clarke & Stephen Baxter Rendezvous with Rama & Rama II by Arthur C. Clarke Bourne Identity, Supremacy & Ultimatum, The Janson Directive by Robert Ludlum Davinci Code, Angels & Demons, & More by Dan Brown Prey *, Timeline, Air Frame, & State of Fear by Michael Crichton Scorpion's Gate by Richard A. Clarke Altered Carbon, Broken Angels, and most importantly Market Forces by Richard K. Morgan (Mark ...

Well, since I can longer get to my old email during the day (I used to run my own development Exchange Server, which now runs on a VMWare virtual machine about an hour a day), I had to have a way to use email during the day.
I was delighted to find that I could still do both; run my own development Exchange occasionally, downloading my messages with POP3, and continue using my aciasoftware.com email addresses. I was amazed to find that GMail offers several services which I thought were 'premium' services for free (hotmail charges an arm & a leg for the same thing): send as option enabling me to send as my real email address, email forwarding, and POP3 access. By forwarding all inbound email messages to my RR pop3 account, I retain the storage on my home machine I am accustomed too, while at the same time, taking advantage of Google's advanced spam filters, and kick as UI.

Well, there may be a little justice in the world. I was unlucky enough to purchase an HP ZT1170 notebook, infamous in all of it's unreliable glory, which you can see the internal workings of on my site.
ClassCouncil.com (Green Welling LLP) has initiated a suit against HP for said notebooks, and I qualify... yippee ! (I would much rather have bought a thinkpad and never experienced all of the headaches to begin with).
If you own or owned one or more notebook computers with one of the following product numbers: F3379H(Model # zt1150); F3380H(Model # zt1170); F3381H(Model # zt1190); F3386H(Model # xz185); F3387H(Model # zt1180); F3394H(Model # zt1175); F3395H(Model # zt1195); F3397H(Model # xz275); F3398H(Model # zt1155); F3399H(Model # zt1185); F3400H(Model # xz295); or F3424H(Model # zt1250);and if you contacted HP about a lack of visibility of the display screen, you qualify, get your but over and sign on.

I have come to an agreement with another DotNetNuke developer, and will be selling the DNN Cart module with him on Snowcovered.com. I will post a link when I have more info. We will be working to make the cart a very inexpensive, elegant, and simple solution for DotNetNuke.
