I was presented an interesting challenge the other day in my job, requiring me to horizontally page n number of columns in an SSDBGrid (antiquidated Sheridian now Infragistics) Control's columns such that the user could always see the first row. The datagrid is read/write, and I couldn't modify any of the code used to update the grid. I wrote a generic procedure to accomplish this outside of the datagrid to leave it alone, following is the code:
Option Explicit
Private WithEvents SSDBGridPaged As SSDBGrid
Private Const iStatic = 3 Private Const iVisible = 3 ' Base 1
Private Sub Form_Load() Set SSDBGridPaged = SSDBGrid1 StoreGrid End Sub
Private ...

I have been programming for going on ten years in some form or another. I usually try to stay above the table so to speak, and therefore, have never given much time to playing with or searching for elusive decompilers.
Until I came across an article on asp.net discussing Server-Side Unit Testing in ASP.NET, in which the author discusses the various pitfalls of testing an ASP.NET solution, and six line solution he came up with to rectify the sitiation, and the tool he used to discover it: Lutz Roeder’s .NET Reflector.. Wow... a bonafide decompiler. It doesn't take the code and make a nice Visual Studio.NET solution for you, but it doe ...

I finally hit four miles last night after trying to get back into shape for the last four months. Starting about three years ago, I started working out regularly, and eventually got to the point where I was running as many as seven miles daily.
Eventually, I reunited with my ex-wife, and we have been happily back together for almost a year now. In any event, I fell out of my pace, and eventually started gaining weight again. As I said in an earlier post, I eventually found Atkins, and everything changed. Without working out, or really even trying, I lost in excess of 25 lbs, until I hit a plateau in February. As I didn't initially have the energy on a low carb diet to run like I did, I pretty much gave it up as I was still losing lbs. It certainly was nice to actually lose weight without daily torture sessions.
Since February, I have started running 3-4 days a week. And last night, I finally hit the four mile mark. Not saying I am stopping there, just saying it feels good. The best part a ...

Wow... I got home from my run tonight and weighed in at 237.5 lbs. I haven't weighed that much since my way up in 1998. Thanks in no small part to Dr. Atkins and a treadmill, I am about 2/3's of the way to my goal. I was also inspired by Jason Burgess, a software developer, Network Administrator and Fitness Fanatic. Reading Jason's story, where he started and where he went: the kick ass software & web sites he has developed, well, it was simply inspiring. Here was a man who, in his own words, was about to die. Like him, I was way over weight, was terribly out of shape, and just needed a life change.
Well, I got that life change, going through several episodes I wouldn't wish upon my worst enemy. Initially, not changing my diet, I started a strict exercise program, working out as much as twice a day, and getting down to around 245. Then, about ...
